Request correction of business name details

Once a business name is registered, you can't request to change it. If you want a different business name, you'll need to register a new one.

You can request a correction to some details on the business names register if:

• there is a typographical error, or
• the place or date of birth is incorrect.

You'll need to provide evidence (e.g. drivers licence or passport) to support your request.

How to request a correction

Step 1 - Sign up and log in to ASIC Connect

You need to link your business name to your ASIC Connect account before you can notify us. See Business names for more information.

Step 2 - Select your business name in the 'Lodgements and notifications' tab

Step 3 - Select 'Other notifications' from the transactions list and press 'Go'

Step 4 - Select 'Business name' as the business type and 'Request to correct registry details'.

Step 5 - Enter your request for correction and submit your correction

Once complete, we will review your request and contact you if we have any questions. It can take up to 28 days for us to reach a decision.
